Our Leaders

Diane Haslam, mezzo-soprano, voice teacher and choir director was born in Mansfield, England, and is a graduate in Vocal Performance of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She has sung as soloist in opera, oratorio and recitals throughout Europe and the USA, as well as in concert with leading orchestras. She sang for seven years full time with the Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam. Her private studio, Vocal Dimensions, is based here in Aiken, where she has lived for the past fourteen years.  For six years she was Lecturer in Voice at the University of South Carolina Aiken where, along with applied voice lessons, she taught classes in Vocal Diction, Vocal Methods, and Vocal Performance. Diane has become a passionate advocate of choral singing and is music director four choral groups. She has led Master Classes in performance and vocal technique both in the US and England and runs workshops in holistic singing for soloists and choirs. Diane is author of a book on singing: The Heart of Singing – Steps on the Path to Becoming the Singer You Want to Be, which is currently available at Amazon.com, as an eBook on Kindle or from Diane herself.

Pat Adams, pianist, began her piano teaching career when she was in high school. She graduated with a degree in Piano Pedagogy from Winthrop College where she enjoyed the opportunity to accompany the Winthrop Chorus. Mrs. Adams established and maintained the Pat Adams’ Piano Studio in Aiken for many years instructing numerous students. She has been a church musician for more than 40 years. As well as Aiken Singers, she is also the regular accompanist for Belles Canto and Vocal Dimensions Studio.
